'Our home is our castle'
FOR Rob and Karen McKenzie their Telina castle means the world to them.
"It's well-located and close to the city, but I'm not too sure what all the fuss is about," Mr McKenzie said.
Having lived in the area for the past six years the McKenzies understand why their humble abode is so sought after.
"The area is in close proximity to almost everything, so it's no wonder it's in high demand," he said.
Last week the REIQ's March median sales prices for suburbs across the state found Telina to be one of the most expensive places to buy a unit in Gladstone.
The median price for a unit or townhouse is $475,000.
Although the McKenzies own a house in Telina, as opposed to a unit, they can still see the perks for investors in the area.
"It's becoming much more expensive to live here than it used to, but I don't think it's such a bad thing. We would like to see the city grow," he said. "If you look at the amount of work that has been planned through industry, you can see the reasons behind buying and investing in Gladstone."
