IT WAS a milestone for Gladstone Regional Council yesterday.
After a hectic month of campaigning the successful candidates were officially sworn in.
Councillor Matt Burnett was re-appointed as Deputy Mayor.
Mayor Gail Sellers gave the council a warm welcome, saying she was excited for the future and ready to face the challenges ahead.
It was a new beginning for the councillors, each member positive about the term ahead.
The council chambers was overflowing with family, friends and on-lookers as each new councillor was called upon by the GRC CEO Stuart Randle to take an oath.
The councillors went through an induction on Monday, and yesterday officially marked the beginning of their four-year term.
After the ceremony all present enjoyed a social morning tea.
