Mixed reaction to show

Brenda Strong

THE Ferris wheel has stopped turning, the rides have moved on and it will be another year before the Gladstone Show is in town.

In the wake of the 120th show, a mixed response from attendees has raised the question, "Where to from here?"

Despite complaints of high prices and limited entertainment, the Gladstone and District Show Society maintains the show was a great success.

Show secretary Robyn Reddacliff said almost 6000 people attended this year's event.

"Numbers were certainly up on last year's show because we had wet weather last year," Ms Reddacliff said.

Ms Reddacliff said the show was funded by the Gladstone Show Society, which is sponsored by QGC, QAL, McCosker Contracting and a number of other local businesses.

"We cover all the rest. We raise money from events through the year," she said.

So what's next for the Gladstone Show? The Observer would love to hear your thoughts.
