THE Gladstone PCYC markets were held for the first time yesterday and hundreds of people came through the door to check out the various stalls.
Gladstone PCYC assistant branch manager Constable Ken Avery said it was a great way to support local businesses.
"A lot of our stall holders are very small businesses so it gives them a platform and an audience to continue their businesses and it's great for the local area to give them that opportunity," she said.
Money from the stall holder fees go back into the PCYC and a sausage sizzle also helped support youth programs run by the centre.
Emma Oliver was among those impressed with the new market.
"It's excellent," she said. "I think this is good because it's quite central and it is under cover so it will be good in the summer months."
