Man with mental health issues attacks police at hospital

FIVE police officers were attacked at Gladstone Base Hospital late on Tuesday.

Police were at the hospital to deal with a mental health patient.

The patient assaulted the officers before they were able to subdue him. No weapons were used in the assault.

None of the officers were seriously hurt in the attack.

Police are awaiting the release of the alleged offender from mental health services before charges will be laid.
