Diners get different rump as man runs by minus pants

GOONDOON St may have been mistaken for Goonmoon St after police were called to witness reports of a man running naked past Ribs and Rumps, at about 7.30pm on March 30.

Nils Aiden Williams had his one matter of public nuisance dealt with in his absence in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where police prosecutor Mick O'Rourke had the difficult task of keeping a straight face as he read the facts of the incident.

Despite the original calls stating the man was naked, when police arrived they observed Williams wearing a shirt and a pair of undies, but he appeared to have misplaced his pants.

When they quizzed Williams as to the whereabouts of his missing pants, his response was as puzzling as the location of his trousers.

"You know, you were young once," Williams replied to officers.

Prosecutor O'Rourke told the court Williams had been drinking at the yacht club, before running up past Ribs and Rumps in full view of dining patrons sitting in the alfresco eating area.

Magistrate Russell Warfield did not record a conviction against Williams, but fined him $400 for the offence.
