GLADSTONE'S retail sector continues to grow with another major store having its official launch yesterday.

Dan Murphy's opened for business on Monday, but the official ribbon-cutting moment came yesterday when Mayor Gail Sellers dropped in to do the honours.

The store will be managed by Darren Oakey, who was already living and working in Gladstone before switching to Dan Murphy's seven weeks ago.

The company's Queensland regional manager Rod Stewart said the store would employ about 20 people and had already done strong trade.

On Anzac Day the store was Dan Murphy's second best performer in the state.
