PREPARE yourselves for a heavenly experience of song, wonder and heart.

Gladstone Entertainment Centre will host a free, live simulcast screening of one of the world's favourite operas - Puccini's Madama Butterfly - on Thursday, November 29 at the GEC Marquee, Marina Plaza.

With scenes of falling cherry blossoms and reflecting koi pools, the production will feature Japanese soprano Hiromi Omura in her debut with Opera Australia.

Opera Australia artistic director Lyndon Terracini said Opera Australia was widening its reach through new initiatives this year.

"The simulcast of Madama Butterfly will enable audiences through metropolitan and regional Queensland to be part of the virtual audience of this beautiful show, and to see the wonderful Japanese soprano, Hiromi Omura, in the title role," he said.

"This breathtakingly beautiful and exotic production should not be missed and I urge music lovers in these centres not to miss this great opportunity."

The performance will be simulcasted to nine Queensland centres.
