GAIL Sellers has officially won the local election, held ten days ago, and will serve another term as Gladstone Regional Mayor.

The Returning Officer declared the result at about 2.30pm this afternoon.

The declaration marks the end of an incredibly close election, which saw Cr Sellers narrowly defeat Craig Butler.

The final count left the candidates with 50.55 percent and 49.55 percent of the vote respectively.

Observer reporter Beth Young recorded this interview with Cr Sellers this afternoon.
