Central Queensland health staff anxious over cutbacks

TALK of voluntary redundancies in Central Queensland's health system has many people feeling anxious about cutbacks.

One of those is independent Member for Gladstone Liz Cunningham, who said she was worried about the possibility of front-line jobs being cut by the State Government, despite its promise last year that no front-line jobs would be shed.

"I find it difficult to accept that there will be no front-line job cuts when they're cutting doctors and nurses," Mrs Cunningham said.

"It sounds like a contradiction to me."

Hospital services in Central Queensland have been an emotional topic this month.

Residents in Moura turned out in force recently to defend their hospital.
