Bureau reveals housing strength
THE strength of housing in Gladstone was revealed yesterday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The June 2012 regional building report showed regional areas faired well compared to south-east Queensland.
In Gladstone, the total residential buildings increased by 64.3% while in Central Queensland, new home approvals are up 34%.
Master Builders director of housing policy Paul Bidwell said the data could be used to look at the performance of each region over the past financial year.
"We can see that regional areas of Queensland, particularly those close to mining and resources activity, are performing much better than the south-east corner," Mr Bidwell said.
