Fire lights up Calliope
A GRASS fire lit up a property in Calliope this afternoon.
Queensland Fire and Rescue crews were called to a Calliope River Rd property around 2pm this afternoon.
A Department of Emergency Services spokesperson said one urban and three rural crews attended.
The fire took two hours to control, with crews currently extinguishing the remnants of the blaze.
No people were injured and no property was damaged during the incident.
First officer Lou-Anne Stuart said rural fire brigades were in desperate need of more volunteers.
"People just don't realise how hard it is for us to get a crew together to get out to these fires," Ms Stuart said.
"If you do see a fire, call triple zero."
QFRS Gladstone also attended to a grass fire at Haddock Drive, Kirkwood this afternoon.
The blaze was contained within an hour.
