Video: How to pick up chicks with your dog

WANT to use your well-trained dog to pick up chicks? Dog trainer Chris de Aboitiz will show you how.

The Agnes Water-based former tandem surfing world champion and professional dog trainer has released this tongue in cheek video to show how useful a well-trained dog can be.

In it, Chris sends his dog Murph to snuggle up against a woman sun baking, then wanders over to strike up a conversation.

He calls it "playing girl fetch".

Chris has been working hard training Murph ahead of the Noosa Festival of Surfing, which begins this weekend.

The event features the Surfing Dog Spectacular, which was launched at Noosa in 2012 and has become one of the festival's most popular events.

Chris has been involved in the event since its inception, and has been surfing with dogs for more than 15 years.

He says the secret to an obedient dog is leading with respect, not fear.

"I can take my dogs anywhere and everywhere," he said.

"I can leave them in the van with the door open and they won't get out unless they have been invited to."

Of his wingman Murph, Chris said the dog loved walking up to people and getting cuddles.

"He is just such a friendly, loving dog."
