Bruce Hwy now open after crash south of Tannum Sands

UPDATE: The Bruce Hwy south of Tannum Sands is now open to both lanes after a two vehicle accident that occurred early this morning.

The road near the intersection of Rodds Bay Rd, Iveragh was opened to single lane traffic around midday while crews worked to clear the accident site.

 

UPDATE: A MAN has been flown to Rockhampton Base Hospital with internal and spinal injuries, after being involved in a serious crash on the Bruce Hwy south of Tannum Sands.

It is believed a truck and a ute were involved in the crash, and no other injuries have been reported.

The highway remains closed in both directions as the vehicles are removed from the road.

 

EARLIER: A SERIOUS traffic accident has closed the Bruce Hwy south of Tannum Sands.

Several ambulances and fire trucks are at the scene, which is near the intersection of Rodds Bay Rd, Iveragh.

A person is reportedly trapped in their vehicle.

The highway is closed in both directions.

At 4.20am police officers were telling south-bound travellers that the highway would be closed for a minimum of four hours.

It is reported that at least two vehicles were involved in the crash.
