Council approves closure
THE East Shores Precinct is another step closer with the approval of the temporary closure of part of Flinders Pde approved by Gladstone Regional Council.
At the council meeting on Tuesday, approval was given to temporarily close part of the road, with a view to it being a permanent closure.
The master plan for stage one of the East Shores Precinct was completed in April 2011 and is known as the Gladstone Coal Exporters Maritime Precinct.
It will incorporate an interpretative centre, offices, a restaurant/cafe and a waterside park land facility.
At the council meeting, Mayor Gail Sellers said the redevelopment would be wonderful once it was completed.
Public access to the site will be removed temporarily to enable construction.
Gladstone Ports Corporation aims to deliver Stage 1, including the water play park, by the 2012/13 summer season.
