WITH all the talk about mobile phone and broadband services in Gladstone lately, many in Clinton would be interested to note a new tower being constructed on Reservoir Rd.

The tower is owned by Optus, and another telecommunications provider also colocates the equipment.

"Optus is continuing to invest in expanding its mobile coverage in Clinton," an Optus spokesperson said.

"As the popularity of smartphones and mobile internet continues to rise, we look to ensure our services meet demand from customers, in particular for wireless broadband and 3G access."

Coverage for mobile phone and mobile broadband customers has been a hot topic lately as telecommunications providers work to keep up with the Gladstone region's expanding population.
