Candidate forum
MONDAY night is a big moment in this year's local election campaign. The Observer is giving you the chance to meet the people seeking your vote in Gladstone Regional Council elections. The Observer Meet the Candidates event will see all nominees make a short speech, before mingling with the crowd to answer questions.
Observer general manager Carl Carter said there were many people in the region wondering who some of the candidates were. "There are certainly some familiar names on the ballot, but there are also some that are not household names," he said.
"I felt it was The Observer's responsibility to introduce these candidates to the public. In addition to our normal in-print Meet the Candidates advertising feature (in The Observer on Thursday 26th), we have decided to host a free Meet the Candidates community forum, and allow candidates to outline who they are, what their vision for the Gladstone region is, and why they are qualified to represent us."
The event is on next Monday, April 23 from 6pm at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre.
Free tea and coffee will be supplied.
