Your guide to summer live sport in Brisbane

IF SPORT is your thing, then head to the state's capital because it is dishing up the goods this season. 

Cricket
The Gabba hosts its first day-night Test match with the Aussies taking on Pakistan on December 15 in the Commonwealth Bank Test Series. They're back again on January 13 for the Victoria Bitter One Day International Series. The Big Bash returns with home games December 30, January 3, 11 and 20 and the women's league takes centre pitch on January 21.

Tennis
Kicking off the New Year, the Brisbane International welcomes tennis superstars from around the globe, including defending Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber and the Spanish powerhouse Rafael Nadal. Crowds will fill the stands at the Queensland Tennis Centre from January 1 - 8.

Basketball
The Brisbane Bullets are looking forward to another big year, with their season running from October 6 to January 27. A recent signing of two-time NBL championship player Jermaine Beal is a promising start for the team.

Golf
Now it is 120th year, the Isuzu Queensland Open returns to its origins at the Brisbane Golf Club, on October 20 - 23. Previous Australian PGA champs Peter Lonard and Daniel Popvic have announced they'll be joining the line-up of top players.

Soccer
Fans can 'feel the roar' from October 7 through until April 16 as Brisbane Roar look forward to another stellar season. Key defender Luke DeVere makes his return and the team is set to debut a special maroon kit, in addition to their usual orange and white, to pay homage to their support from across Queensland.

Rugby Union
Rugby diehards will have the chance to see international and home-grown superstars as they go head-to-head in the Brisbane Global Tens. It's two thrilling days of ten-players-a-side, ten-minutes-a-half, knockout tournament on February 11-12.
