Bechtel workers issued with redundancy notices

IT'S the letter some Bechtel workers have known was coming for three years.

Redundancy notices were delivered to about 150 workers on Friday, with more to be issued this year and next.

Gladstone general manager Kevin Berg said 14,000 workers employed on Curtis Island were made aware of their projected finish date when they began.

"We advise employees a number of weeks beforehand about upcoming crew redundancies," Mr Berg said.

"Where possible, we look to redeploy affected individuals to other Bechtel projects."
