Beard growing and maintaining tips from The Beards bassist

THE Beards bass player and pro-beard campaigner Nathaniel Beard shared his facial hair wisdom with The Observer this week.

The band will embark on a farewell tour next year - which marks the last time they will campaign for beards through live music.

Top tips for growing beards:

  • "Persistence makes a good beard, it might be patchy or you might not like the hue but you must be persistent. Some poeple shave off their beards because it might be red, even though they're not a ginger but we say embrace the beard that nature has given you and just  rock it and own it." 
     
  • "Embrace your beard even if it's patchy or itchy. It will only be itchy for 2 - 6 months."
     
  • "Treat it like the hair on top of your head, you have to shampoo and condition it."
     
  • "The female half of the population have to have even more patient than males because they have to wait till they're in their 80s to grow a beard most of the time."
