Asif released from prison in England

PAKISTAN bowler Mohammad Asif, one of three cricketers jailed for a fixing scam, has been released from prison in England after serving half of a 12-month sentence.

Asif, 29, the former world number two Test bowler, and teammates Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir were jailed in November for a plot to bowl deliberate no balls in a Test match against England at Lords in 2010.

All three were also given five-year playing bans.
