A diver's delight

THE reintroduced Heron Island Dive Festival last week attracted twice as many people as it did in 2011.

The festival, which started last Wednesday and finished yesterday, saw over 100 divers from many parts of the globe gather at the island to view what is regarded as one of the best dive sites in the world.

Heron Island resort manager Simon Stansfield said yesterday the festival had been an event where people came as strangers and left having made many new friends.

A highlight of the event was the presence of three of Australia's most famous underwater photographers Bob Halstead, Gary Bell, David Hannan and Dave Harasti who gave presentations and took part in panel discussion sessions over the four days.
